About Richie – In His Own Words :-

My love of music started when my Dad took me to a record shop in Uppers Street, Islington. He sat me on the counter and placed the cans over my ears. The shop owner placed the needle on track one of the Jackson 5 ABC album  and I listened for the first time to “The Love You Save”. That was 1970, I was three and a half years old.

Music has always been a big part of my life. I was so excited to get a hand-me-down Garrard record player from a neighbour and would spend hours in my room playing the same few vinyl’s over and over again. My Dad would bring in a new album and I would sit on the living room floor reading the sleeve from cover to cover. I wasn’t allowed to touch his deck J.

In the 80’s I teamed up with two great friends to start a mobile disco. it was a huge success. I then went on to have a residency at a club called Rumours in Margate for a while. I learnt to break dance and with my brother we performed with Funk legends Brass Construction as The BC Popper’s and I’ve actually danced at the Albert Hall !. All my youth was spent at Zero 6 and TOT’s (who remembers shorts night ? ). Little did I know then I would move to Essex for good.

I had my first daughter in 1994 and the music subsided as we grew our family and moved to Essex. Now all three kids have grown to be fine adults and I have had the chance to return to my first love, music. After a chance meeting I was offered a chance to record a demo for a Essex based Radio Station. Soon after I broadcast my first live show in February 2017 and seriously caught the bug. So excited to continue on my journey with Zero Radio and especially excited to work with Ian and Merv who were the resident DJ’s at Zero.

Feels like I’ve come home.
