About the Show
Nick is a versatile fun loving dj and radio presenter with a soul music knowledge that delves deeper than your average. His dj style is upbeat, fun and you will always see Nick smiling behind the decks. He implements the same style for his show where he pulls out superb music with a light hearted approach. Lets find out more from the man himself…
Firstly, I have always had a passion for soul music which started when I was about 7 /8 years old at my parent’s friend’s wedding. All the music played was soul that night and I spent the whole night on the dance floor. I was hooked. Then at about 18 I borrowed my old boss Dj equipment for a party. (Soul music naturally). It went well and so I started doing some gigs. I put things on hold for a while as I got married and had a family. Years later I decided to get back into the soul scene and got a warm up slot at a local soul night. After a few months a friend and I approached a local night club owner and we started Saturday Soul at Roberts’s night Club.
So, where do I start The Soul Armoury show started about 8 years ago?
This came about after listening to Ian Reading on Zero Radio and asked him if I could sit in on his show. At the time I was still doing regular monthly soul nights at Roberts Club in Colchester. This had been running for about 4 years. I remember how nervous I was sitting in the radio studio for the first time but was totally hooked and just had to have my own show. Thankfully Ian and Merv gave me the opportunity and The Soul Armoury was born. I would never have thought that 8 years on and it still gives me so much enjoyment and the music just gets better and better.
I love the station and all the presenters get on so well. One big happy family. I have also been so lucky with my Djing and have had the privilege to play at gigs like Caister Soul Weekender, Soul Family Affair, Lagoona Soul in Turkey, Goldmine, Soulful Seduction, Overdose of Joy and many more. I’ve also met some fantastic people on my soulful journey and long may it continue…
