Zero Radio’s Ian Reading Xmas Charity!

Ian and Jane’s Annual Christmas Fundraising For Southend Toy library 2018

Zero Radio co-founder & Sunday evening presenter, Ian Reading is well known for organising charity events and raising money for local worthy causes and the Southend Toy Library is no exception. Ian has tirelessly raised upto £20k to date for the charity organisation. After last year’s fantastic donations that were raised, Ian decided to take the event one step further.

This year Ian and wife Jane held a “Christmas experience” at their home based in Hockley, Essex UK.

The event was held on 25th of November and offered entertainment, including all the Christmas traditions such as stalls, mulled wine, and delicious minced pies , with the grand lights switch on at 4pm and of course not forgetting Father Xmas making an appearance!

Over 1,000 local people and some as far as London attended this Christmas fund raiser. Ian commented ‘ There are too many people to thank for their support / encouragement / sponsorship & hard work, including the likes of Essex Police & cadets for keeping people safe outside & inside the event .

The Southend toy library need approx £15,000 per year to give each child 4 days of respite. Tracey Beck who runs the toy library makes sure every child gets the most out of their day with her. The Toy Library at The Lighthouse Child Development Centre is for parents/carers with children who have special needs. The library provides support/advice, specialised equipment, respite days, fun days and outings (members only) and a toy and equipment loan scheme. This is our drop in facility-come and have a coffee and chat.
