Born in Bromley Kent, moved to Rayleigh in 1959, so despite the Welsh name and ancestry I am a ‘man of kent’ ..or is it a ‘Kentish man’ ? ..hummm whatever.
Music’s in the Blood, Father was a Jazz musician, regularly watched his Big Band rehearse, so grew up with it 24/7 .. from Georgie Fame .. to Spike Huges and loads in between.
So why didn’t I follow in the footsteps?... well I did for a while…a short while…playing trumpet from age 11-16…but alas (or thankfully) it was not to be…records were easier.
Started mobile jocking at the age of 17 and promoting my own disco nites locally before joining Ian at ZERO6 from 1979-82 after winning Zero 6 Dj competition (by default lol), then on to ‘Manhattens on Saturdays..and then a years contract at ‘Joanna’s’ in Gillingham (back to Kent). Spent 4 years on radio Basildon presenting top40 and various slots…before getting a proper job, and finally starting my own business in 1989.
Music has furnished me with some of the best times of my life..not to mention some long term friendships……oh and a wife and 3 kids
